No. In the late 19th and early 20th century the land in Northwest Pa. was clearcut leaving the land devoid of trees. The devastated landscape was nicknamed "The Pennsylvania Desert." It has since regrown through better forestry practices.


There once was. After the logging industry removed virtually all of the timber across much of northern Pennsylvania in the late 19th and early 20th century, it was called the "Pennsylvania Desert."
