One of the biggst health risks about tattooing and piercings are infections if a clean needle is used for both procedures. Infections happen when you don't keep the pierced or tattoo area clean with what the person recomends is best for you. If you don't clean them ( I know from experience) the area will become very red to purple.and begin to puss. At this point go see a doctor to get the proper treatment.

Well for tattoos, it can get infected if not properly taken care of. And also, the person doing it my screw up, and remember, tattoos are permanent. And with body piercing, it can EASILY get infected. And the person doing it could screw up and hit a nerve system which would NOT, I repeat, NOT, be good.

Tattoos and Piercings. The arts with risks. Well simply put with both Tattoos and Body Piercings you are subjecting the body to damage by piercing the tissue surface (Tattooing) or piercing the tissue completely (Body Piercing) and allowing and entry point for bacteria. Now considering you are an intelligent individual and choose to use common sense you will consider getting these services at licensed and inspected facilities from professional artists who will use safe materials and techniques to provide the service to you. Following the aftercare routine they proved for you in writing your risks of infection or serious illness are greatly reduced. Now considering the "I want a deal" or "Buddy knows how to do it" logic can open up a whole new would of grief for anyone choosing to go down that path and get a service from a basement scratcher or hacker with no license and no knowledge of sterilization and disinfection techniques required to provide a safe service. Professionals hate these morons, they hurt people and they give our industry a bad reputation, a good reputation professional have worked very hard to build up over the years is damaged daily by the reuse of needles, use of poor materials, used pigments and the spreading of various viruses and bacteria by poor sterilization skills if any at all courtesy of these "Hackers" and "Scratchers". Protect your self and others, get your services from licensed and inspected shops only. If you have trouble they are there to help you solve the problem. Report Hackers and Scratchers to your local health protection agency.

If done right then no. if done wrong that could lead to bad infections or even blood poisoning. just keep piercings clean and an ointment on tattoos until they heal.
