One disadvantage of a mechanical valve is that you have to take a coumadin/warfarin drug to prevent clots on the valve - however the mechanical valves tend to last longer than others (you may not need surgery as soon as if you had another one)

A full heart transplant will first require the availability of a heart - someone else might need it more. If you can get by with a valve, I recommend that route. thanyou for your time. :D
