Originally started as Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt as they became friends one day after meeting in the school cafeteria. They started the band and were originally called "Sweet Children". Were later joined by drummer John. They did many band gigs at the bar where Billie's mum was a waitress. Recorded their first album and then John left the band to go to University. Then later joind by Tre Cool, who is now their permanent drummer.
