In old Shakespearean play writes scavenger and predator birds often are used as omens, which in most cases leads to tragic deaths.

I think they were crows and vultures in Julius Caesar specifically. Don't quote me on that, though. Hadn't read it in a while, but I remember scavenger birds flew over the protagonists' heads as they marched to war.
