A verb being a doing word it would be impossible for something you did to be black. As adjectives are used to describe objects black would fit into this category because it is a colour, e.g. you could have a black cat or a black pen.

Bird is the noun. Black is an adjective. The is an Article Adjective. And I think is is an Article Adjective too but I don't know.
