Turn the key into the off position, then turn all the way on with out turning the motor over and let it sit like that for 10 min without touching it. This will reset the anti theft program in the cars computer. After 10 min turn the key to the off position and then try to start the car. It works everytime in this situation. Cars come into my shop all the time for this same issue and other shops stick it to people that are not aware of this common GM defect. I hope this helps and saves you from being ripped of by greedy shops.

You cannot bypass or reset the Securilock anti-theft system on a 99 Ford Ranger. If the system begins to malfunction and you can no longer start the vehicle, you will likely need to replace the transponder unit that is located behind the ignition in the steering column.
Somehow you set off the antitheft system. In order to reset it you have to unlock the drivers door with the key.
If you have a remote that locks & unlocks your antitheft system it could be as simple as resetting your remote, I had a similar experience.
You can't bypass or reset security system, bring it to the dealer.
easiest way to reset the car is to pull the battery cable and let it sit for 20 minutes of so. This removes all volatile stored data from the engine management system. Make sure you write down any radio codes beforehand.
