You go through the dash, that's all I know. Pain in the neck. Good luck with that one.
It is under the passenger side dash. You do have to take apart the dash though. The back of the glove box has to come out. It takes about two hours because some of the bolts are really hard to get at. You need a long bendable extension or wobble with long extention. then climb under the hood and disconnect the hoses and hose retainer.
You don't have to remove the whole dashboard. If you take out the glove compartment liner and the radio you can access all the housing screws around the heater core, with some gyrations. On mine I had to remove the front right wheel and fender liner to get at the heater-hose attachments, which are on the engine side of the firewall, under the air-conditioning housing, virtually inaccessible otherwise, and easily reached this way. Have fun with it!!
Yes, you can bypass the core. Find the hoses to the heater core. Remove them from the core ... as a worst case scenario, cut them. Install a double male hose connector with clamps on the hose ends to complete the bypass fix. . mm
if you do not have time and patience do not attempt this. the heater core is located behind the glove compartment . to access this you must remove all of the dash, this includes instrament cluster. book time on this is 14 hours. you can however cheat and disasemble glove box and radio cluster bottom valance and then you will see the bottom of heater core the reason for whole dash removal is bacause of 2 bolts on top of heater core. you can cheat by cutting access hole in back of glove compartment 2 get to last bolts. b carful when cutting through as electrical components are also back there. took me 5 hours 2 take out and put in Not necessary to remove whole dash. Just remove bottom tray and loosen bolts on side of dash. The big thing to check is getting a aftermarket heater core that is actually made properly as to the tube routing. If at all possible buy an new original heater core online and save money. Be sure to double check any aftermarket heater core as I have found many to be made poorly (not made with tubing in correct locations, small differences in sizes, slightly larger and will not fit in original location, etc) 4-5 hours is about right while not rushing it.
I have a 1999 blazer. The heater core clogs up about once a year from the Dexcool. Try having it (heater core) flushed and use Prestone (Extended life) instead of Texaco.
Loosen the clamps and carefully twist the hose where it connects to the heater core. If you are wanting to bypass the heater core, just run one of the hoses between the two places on the motor where they connect or put a short piece of pipe between the two hoses.
the heater core, heater core hoses or heater control valve is leaking
The heater coil and a heater core is the same thing. Hot water circulates from the engine and through the heater core then back to engine generating heat for your heater system.
You will need to remove the water lines from your heater core. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install the new heater core.
Just unhook the hoses from the heater core and put a tube are something in the middle of them and clamp them together.
Yes
just splice the two heater hoses that go through to the heater core the together
No it will not, it will just back flush the heater core and clean it out.
