Test a small area, leave 5min,clean, not good enough, do 10 min and so on.

This is used more for grout than concrete. Etcher is safer used for cleaning concrete.

Follow the MFG recommendations for the product.

Muriatic acid is not the first choice for masonry cleaning but the last resort.Muriatic acid is a highly reactive liquid acid, and one of the most dangerous chemicals you can buy for home use. It is an industrial-strength solution of hydrogen chloride gas dissolved in water, also known as hydrochloric acid. Yep, muriatic acid is "super stomach acid"! With the exception of some plastics, muriatic acid can damage most anything it touches, including clothing, metal, and skin! It emits a suffocating odor that can quickly burn the lining of the nose, throat and even the lungs. Typical home uses include heavy-duty masonry cleaning, preparation of masonry for painting or sealing, removal of efflorescence or mineral deposits and pH reduction in Swimming Pools. Its reactive power makes it the chemical of choice for some types of masonry cleaning. Muriatic acid is sold in a standardized concentration of 31.45% acid and 68.55% inert ingredients, primarily water. This is the concentration you are going to find in your local hardware store. Our mixing suggestions are based on this concentration... if the muriatic acid you purchase is stronger, adjust the dilution proportions for the job accordingly. A short anecdote... A hardware store in my area stopped storing muriatic acid. Over a period of years, gaseous seepage from the old containers had begun to dissolve the metal shelving it was stored upon, as well as the metal containers of other products nearby!

How do you use the muriatic acid because I am having some problems getting rid of oak pollen stains?

When using Muriatic Acid it's important to wear the proper protective gear, and have plenty of clean water on hand in case of an accident. Always pour the acid into water, and not the other way around. Wet the stones before cleaning. Dilute the acid with water. Make sure the stones are soaked with water before applying, and don't leave the acid on too long. Scrub the stains with a scrub brush. Rinse everything off, and allow to dry.

Is PVC a good storage material for swimming pool muriatic acid?

How long after muriatic acid is put down your well will your water be black?

If muriatic acid is used in a well it can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days for the water to become discolored. However, this can vary depending on the amount of acid used, the size of the well, and the water flow rate. It is recommended to consult a professional before using muriatic acid in a well.

What works best to get rid of Efflorescence muriatic acid or a different type of cleaner?

Bob is awesome A Real Answer::: Muriatic acid is around 30% + Hydrochloric Acid and is very harmful to any Portland Cement based material, be it concrete [poured, pumped or pneumatically applied], as well as grout mixes! This type acid attacks the lime in the mix which is the binder that holds a concrete together. Besides disintegrating a concrete it reduces the pH and sets you up for more problems in the long term. We do not recommend Muriatic At All! Several cleaners on the market profess to be a cleaner or remover. I use a buffered phosphoric product! First, we mechanically abrade the surface, removing as much of the salts as possible. Then we apply our remover and observe an aggressive bubble condition for 10 or so minutes. Rinse and reapply until no more bubbling is seen. This may require several applications to insure complete removal, however we have not compromised the concrete and created any conditions that will exacerbate a future problem. Rinse again and test for surface pH and provide a bath if necessary to bring the surface back to a 6-7 pH range. Once the efflorescence has been removed, apply a penetrating sealer, such as StableCrete to the surfaces to waterproof the concrete. A penetrating sealer migrates into the Gel-Pore/Capillary of a concrete and forms a solid inside the matrix. This stops contaminates and moisture from entering and also does not allow internal chemistry to migrate out of a concrete to react with an atmosphere! Efflorescence does not reappear and by having a reduced moisture content interior, freeze thaw damages are no longer a concern!

Can you use muriatic acid to clean fiberglass boat hull?

The answer: YES. Muriatic acid is the best solution for cleaning scum off of fiberglass hulls. Forget expensive hull cleaner or any other "marine" product that claims to remove. Muriatic acid removes all scum/discoloration without any effect to the gel coat for about $6/gallon. Get a garden/lawn sprayer, an open area (for venalation), long pants/shirt that you don't care about, rubber gloves & goggles. The Muriatic acid will do the work, only light scrubbing may be necessary as the chemical dissolves the scum itself. Once the acid has sat for 5-10 mins, spray with water and then wash with a mild soap. In the end, you will have a brand new looking hull. Remember to wax after to protect in the future. One word of caution is that the Muriatic acid fumes are very powerful. Be sure to be in a well venalated area and wear a painters venalator mask if necessary.Enjoy your brand new looking hull!

Can you use-muriatic acid to clean out your pipes?

Muriatic acid or hydrochloric acid (HCl) will not harm copper pipes. I am a licensed Heating& cooling technician and I use Muriatic acid all the time to clean out hot water tankless coils and boiler hot water coils and I have seen it used to clean out hot water copper piping in houses to remove scale and mineral deposits. I use a 1/6 Submersible pump that i purchased at Home Depot. It's not a chemical pump and I have used this pump over 4 years and i have ran Muriatic acid through it at least 60 times and the pump still works great. I even took the pump apart to see if any damage was happening to it and it looked just like new. just wear long rubber gloves and full goggles for your eyes. safety glasses will not protect your eyes. the acid can splash up under the safety glasses. If you get any on your skin just rinse it off with cold water. Muriatic acid or HCl cleans up really well with water.

How long should new brickwork cure before washing with muriatic acid?

New brickwork should cure for at least 7-10 days before washing with muriatic acid to ensure it has fully hardened and dried. It is important to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for curing times before applying any type of cleaning solution to prevent damage to the bricks.

How old can the pool be and still get an acid wash?

Age doesn't really matter, as long as the pool is gunite or concrete. But never acid wash a fiberglass pool, or a fiberglass lining in a gunite or concrete pool. I suppose I should explain why, because so few pool pro's understand fiberglass, you will probably receive considerable conflicting information. The finish coat on all fiberglass pools manufactured in a factory is swimming pool gel coat. Unfortunately, this is not true of all fiberglass linings in gunite and concrete pools, although it should be. Gel coat is non-porous which is why it's such a fantastic finish, at least for the first 18-20 years, after which it becomes porous and must be removed and replaced. Using muriatic acid on non-porous gel coat will cause it to become porous, at which time it becomes worthless, and must be removed then replaced with new gel coat. Once it's replaced, you're good for another 18-20 years, unless muriatic acid is again used. -Bill
