It all depends on what year the truck is. If it is the older version with the round distributer cap, you need a timing light. Connect the timing light to the number 1 cylinder, which is the front one on the drivers side. next you have to put the computer in base timing mode. To do this you need to locate the timing connector, which is usually located
in the passenger side under the carpet ,below the hvac unit. Unplug the connector and start the engine, then shine the timing light on the timing marks and loosen the distributor and turn it unill the marks line up .Then tighten the distributor, and reconnect the connector. If it has the flat cap , the timing is set with a scanner .
Most likely computer controlled and not adjustable
with a timing light, assuming this is an older engine that still uses a distributor.
8 Degrees BTDC. ( before top dead center )
you have to undo a single wire plug under the carpet on the pasenger side. then the computer is in sleep mode. Set at 0 degrees, then shut off, reconnect the plug and start,,,, it will automatically adjust itself.
seems that the timing is still incorrect. the distributor may be worn and causing this.problem may also be the points, a crack in the distributer cap,
Chevrolet s10 v6 2.8 liter pickup timing degree, how to set the degree
how do you set timing on 88 s10 2.5? ?
The timing on a 2.8 V6 Chevy S10 needs to be set any time the valves, heads, or crankshaft are worked on. The gears of the timing chain and timing sprocket need to be aligned to set initial timing.
There is no timing to set. The timing is controlled by the ECM with signals it receives from various sensors.
Chevy S10 in 2001 didn't have a 2.0L engine. They had a 2.2L engine and it has a (DIS) distributorless ignition system. There is no timing to set.
There is no timing ajustment, Its controled by ECM- Computer.
You don't. The timing is adjusted thru the ECM.
On the Vortec the computer does it all.
