ive found the fuse box in my 1988 marquis behind the plastic under the steering wheel, at the bottom there is 2 plastic Philips screws, give them both half a turn, pop it out and there it is, but where do u find a diagram for the box at?
found this, might be the same, Merry Christmas, anyways! :) For a 1988 Mercury Marquis remove bottom shroud from steering column (5 Philips head screws). There is a wire running from the ignition switch to the left side of the steering column; detach it from the coupler (This can be done without a tool). Turn key to ON position until the panel lights come on. There is a small pin near the bottom of the key lock; push it in and pull the ignition switch out (don't panic if the wire seems to be stuck; it will come out). To replace, turn new ignition switch to same position. Push pin on the ignition switch in while sliding it back into the steering column. Reconnect wire and then replace shroud.
usually this is caused by a burnt out bulb, or one that is about to go

1988 Grand Marquis hubcaps have a lock on them. You'll need to buy it. The center panel (with the mercury logo) comes out and you'll see a little opening that is flower shaped. That needs to turn to release the hubcap from the lugnuts.
Inside the Driver's Door there is a sticker with the Gross Vehicle Weight listed on it.
The shocks are there for a reason. Removing them would cause damage.
no, the 88 has 2 sound resonators and 2 converters.
If a 1988 Mercury Grand Marquis shifting out of second gear gets choppy after acceleration then the overdrive band may need servicing. An overdrive band that is sticking can also cause this problem.
