I can't say all cars have this, but a lot have a release at the gear shift on a floor shift. There may be a small cap over a pin you push in, some have a button on the top of the console. I would think having the key on or in the run position so that the radio worked and stepping on the brake would allow you to shift.

What is a starter Ignition Neutral switch?

Neutral switch? If you mean the neutral-safety switch, it's a switch that opens (prevents current from flowing) when your car is not in park or neutral. Without this switch, you would be able to turn the key and actuate the starter when your transmission is in reverse, drive and low range.

Would a soleniod circuit for the transmission make a car not start?

It might depend on the vehicle and transmission in question, but usually a transmission fault, of any kind, will have little or no impact on the engine's ability to start. With a transmission solenoid problem, you may not be able to make the car move, but it should still start.About the only, transmission related problem that would prevent the engine from starting would be a faulty neutral safety switch, or maybe a faulty brake or clutch switch, which can definitely prevent you from starting the engine, even when working properly, that's their function. If the neutral safety switch is faulty, you may be able to start the engine with the transmission shifter in a position other than Park or Neutral, or not at all. Normal function allows engine starts in only Park or Neutral, and for automatics, sometimes only with the brake pedal depressed as well. On manual transmissions the neutral safety switch allows engine start only with the clutch pedal depressed.**Note: some older vehicle models may not be equipped with neutral safety switches, brake switches, or clutch switches.

Is your motor ruined if you used ether or starting fluid to start your 6.2 diesel engine?

There is a chance of it, that engine has glow plugs, starting fluid can explode when the glow plugs come on causing engine damage. Before using starting fluid on this type engine, make sure glow plugs are not plugged in, and can not come on.

New battery but again car wont start how do you tell if its battery cables or alternator?

Alternator can be discounted for starting problem; it charges the battery when the engine is running it has nothing to do with starting the car. If the engine is not turning over (cranking) when you try to start it, either the igniton switch, wiring or starter motor are at fault. Also check the thick cable from battery negative/body to the engine block. NOTE if the car is automatic the park/neutral switch could be faulty. If the car is alarmed it could be an immobilizer fault. Difficult to know from your question but if engine starts with charged battery, check WITH ENGINE RUNNING for 14 volts approx across battery terminals. If volts less than 12, swap out the alternator

If your gas pedal gets stuck what should you NOT do?

Do not shut the engine off. Instead, slip the shift into neutral and pull off to the side of the road, stop, put it in park then shut he engine off.
