Hey, I just figured how to oil it today...there are two little button like things on top of the machine, right next to the place where u fill the bobbin... Take a pin and pop the button out. Then take some wd40 and spray all over inside. Take a lil flash light and look inside to make sure u got all the part. Then u turn the wheel a couple of time to make sure everything is moving well... Leave it for a while maybe like an hour... I hope this helps!! 😊
What type of oil do I use to oil my kenmore 2142 sewing machine. I just purchased at a garage sail and it is freezing up on me. Thank you
Try a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. My 3 year old twins and their 2 year old sister once got a hold of oil paint and smeared it all over my bathroom and floor and even wood and the magic eraser got it all off even though it was dry. If you got one you wont regret it. Depending on how long the permanent marker has been allowed to sit, an alcohol based hand sanitiser can also do the trick.
I just bought a Kenmore 1218 in a plastic carrying case in excellent condition for $100 in Washington State. It did not come with accessories or a wood cabinet, it did have its original manual.
Gas is leaking into your oil pan. If the head gasket is leaking, it needs to be replaced. While the cylinder head is off, look for a cracked piston or worn rings which may cause gas to leak into the oil pan. If the gasket has been replaced and you had no piston damage or bad rings, then change the oil and filter.
There can be several reasons: - Lack of lubrication - Thread wound around the hook or balance wheel - Motor belt too tight (binding) or too loose (slipping) - Wrong supply voltage - Bent internal part
There is no substitute for a good quality sewing machine oil. One of the biggest causes of problems with sewing machines is that oil has been used that turns to gum or even a varnish like film with age. Sewing machine oil is a white mineral oil, meaning it is clear and has no smell. The oil has a light viscosity and will not collect on the machine's gears. It is usually marketed as machine or sewing machine oil. Cooking oil, car oil, and 3-in-one oil should not be used as substitutes.
Sewing machine lubricant (oil) is usually between $5 and $10, depending on the brand and the size. A small (under 5 oz.) bottle of sewing machine oil at your local sewing supplies store (such as JoAnn's) costs about $4.

Yes
sewing machine oil will do or 3 in 1 oil
Yes , you can but it's best to use a lubricant that is designed for that machine recommended by the manufacturer .
Singer makes their own oil for the singer machines. You can purchase it at a Wal-mart store or anywhere Singer machines are sold. I just bought some.
Your owner's manual should state what kind of lubricant to use in your machine. Typically, what is recommended is machine oil or 3-in-1 oil.
It can be used on the moving parts inside where no thread goes.
I do think it is the best and most commonly used.
find the correct manual for your machine, get a good oil can (small with a long spout) a good grade of machine oil and follow the instructions.works for lot of machines
I bought a used Rodney sewing machine in a wooden case in 1974. I cleaned and oil it and it is still running good!It is invaluable to my daughter. I would like to find an instruction manual on it! The model says "Precision SuperDeluxe" Serial number is F8101977
