YOUR CAR WILL RUN IF IT IS NOT YOUR CAR WILL NOT RUN!!!!! if you mean my car won't run and is it the distributor, please check to see if your plugs have spark. If not, then no it is not working. But, none the less if the distributor is shot, don't be a tight wad. The most expensive distributor cap I have ever seen was $28.00. However, the distrbutor shaft itself, if it isn't working, that means your motor has siezed.
IF your coil isn't working first check to see if its getting voltage. If it is replace the coil. If it isn't then you got a wiring problem. That could be caused by a number of problems. Note when checking a coil there are proper procedures for checking it. Basic simple test for checking it from a repair manual will help isolate the problem. Can't go into details not knowing the make and model of your car.

No there is not, Probley need to replace ingnition module in the distributor if the injectors are not working.
If the distributor shaft has side to side play it is probably worn out. If the shaft has no play just replace the cap and rotor.
There was only a visible cam sensor on '98-2001 Explorer 302's. If you have a distributor, your cam sensor is in the distributor. If you don't have a distributor, it is where the distributor used to be on the front of the intake manifold.
More generally speaking: Many engines use electronic controls rather than the older style mechanical distributor. Follow the spark plug wires from the plugs to wherever they connect. If the other end isn't a distributor, it's probably a coil pack in which case you don't HAVE a distributor. GM has been using coil packs on their 4 cylinder engines for quite some time now. Don't expect a distributor on your engine.
The distributor cap is located where the spark plugs cables are connected .They go from the motor to the distributor cap.
