Many Fords of that vintage required that a jumper be placed on a socket near the distributor. Without the jumper in place it's not possible to change the timing of the engine.
Install the jumper, set the timing with a timing light THEN remove the jumper and it should stay.
You'll need to get a reference manual to identify the jumper location and to determine the proper timing advance settings.

The 2.5 litre V6 engine in a 1995 Ford Contour doesn't have a timing belt , it uses ( 2 ) timing CHAINS
No , the Ford 6.8 liter V10 gasoline engine has ( 2 timing CHAINS , 1 timing CHAIN to each cylinder head )
It will cost you $0.00, due to the fact that a Ford F-150 does not have a timing belt, it has a chain that requires no maintenance.
Hi the book recconmends 20w50. I wouldn't deviate from this as when devoliping the car the had issuse with the lifters and the experimented with the oil and that grade solved the problem. So don't use thinner oil, expecially for the performance gain on a long stroke motor like the telstar. As the gain in my opione out weighs the risk of problems.
Telstar 1 was launched on July 10, 1962Telstar 2 was launched on May 7, 1963
