The single click, that you hear when the starter switch is operated, is the solenoid making the high tension connection to the starter motor. If the starter motor doesn't turn over, you will need to check both the battery feed to the solenoid and the feed from the solenoid to the starter motor (this is typically a short length of braided cable). I have known this cable to corrode through. If it has, the easiest remedy, is to replace the entire starter motor.
Hi, I'm not sure how you would fix that, but I'm sure someone at www.holdenbarina.net would be able to help you. It's a forum dedicated to Holden Barina's and the members are really nice and helpful.
To replace the motor you start by removing the exhaust or you can undo the mount and lift out the motor. Consult owners manual for additional information.

Disconnest the battery cable from the back of the Starter motor, and the other red wire., then undo the two bolts holding the starter motor in place one on top and one below the starter motor., withdraw the starter motor from the motor and remove from the car, Installation is the reverse of the dissassembly instructions.
