Gimp is nothing like Photoshop. It works with images in a way that is completely foreign to those familiar with Adobe-type products. It was as if it the program was designed by someone who had never had to actually manipulate an image professionally. If you're stuck on the Linux OS, but you need to work with images I would suggest looking at an app called "Pixel Image Editor". Also, there is a Gimp/Photoshop hack called "Gimpshop".

GIMP is an open-source program for use in editing and manipulating photos, much like Photoshop. Because it is open-source, it is free. You can download it from their website at http://www.gimp.org/.
You can edit pictures by downloading a software called Photo shop. That way you can airbrush it and do much more!! You can do simple editing with other software but photo shop is probably the best! - - - - - Excuse me. You do NOT download Photoshop. You BUY Photoshop. It's a commercial product. If you want something downloadable, there's a program called GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) which is pretty good, and free.
This would generally be done by applying age filters in an image editing application such as Photoshop or GIMP. Consult Google for more detailed information, step by step tutorials, as well as tips on which filters to use.

It's a matter of personal opinion. Photoshop is probably used by more professional artists. On the other hand, the Gimp is free.
Probably, but not certainly, Photoshop. On the other hand, the Gimp is free, and is better at certain kinds of tasks. If you're trying to get a job as a graphic designer, then Photoshop, because it's an industry standard. If you're just doing it as a hobby, you might want to see if GIMP is "good enough" for you... chances are that it is.
They mostly do the same things- but in Photoshop many actions can be done in a separate layer ... the end results may be the same, but in Photoshop you can go back and change things to a deeper level than you can in GIMP.
GIMP is a free photo management software that anyone can download online. GIMP runs off user donations. Although GIMP is not as powerful as software such as Adobe Photoshop, GIMP has almost all of Photoshop's features and is free to use.
