heart rate in beats-per-minute can be calculated by 60 (number of seconds in a minute) divided by the average R-R inteval.

heart rate = 60 / R-R interval

Note: R-R interval needs to be converted into seconds.

You need to feel the pulse within your wrist or your neck. You could also buy a heart rate monitor. A normal heart rate is between 60-100 BPM. you count how many times your pulse pulses for ten seconds, then multiply that by six. that is your heart rate.
