how to ,reprogram the ignition switch on a 2001 Monte Carlo ls
Take it to an independent garage. On some cars it is fairly simple to remove the lock cylinder and replace it (the ignition tumbler & keys for my 1989 cavalier was only $25; unfortunately, it is a long task to get it apart). If it is the ignition swith, same applies, on some cars it is quite simple. I found that the best advice I gto was from an auto wreckers (they know how to dismantle a variety of vehicles)
It is the ignition switch, remote keyless entry receiver, tire pressure monitor computer, antitheft chipped key computer
You mean, I think, ignition switch module, which is the location of the ignition switch.
so you replaced your entire steering wheel and switch and that did not work and was told you needed a starter. The starter was replaced and that did not work. Now it is the crank sensor and ignition module. Not sure of the symptoms, you were not spacific.... Maybe you just need to reprogram the Passlock Anti-theft system to recognize the new key. If you attempt to start the vehicle with a key that it does not recognize it will start for a second and then die, the injectors are disabled by the system. If the car turns over and does not start, I would guess that this is your problem since you changed out the ignition switch. Research the Passlock system. I am guessing you need to do a reprogram.
No, you do not.

Generally, when changing the ignition switch on a 1999 Mercury Mystique, you do not need to reprogram anything, as the ignition switch does not typically require programming. However, if the vehicle has an anti-theft system, you may need to reset or reprogram the system to recognize the new switch. It's always a good idea to consult the vehicle's service manual or a professional mechanic for specific instructions based on any additional features your vehicle may have.

To reprogram the door windows on a 2006 Jaguar X-Type, first ensure the ignition is in the "On" position without starting the engine. Fully close the window you wish to reprogram, then hold the window switch in the "up" position for about five seconds after it closes. Next, lower the window completely by holding the switch down and then, once fully lowered, hold the switch down for an additional five seconds. This should reset the window's auto functionality.
To replace the ignition key on a 1967 Mustang, first, you'll need to remove the ignition switch from the steering column. This typically involves unscrewing a few screws and disconnecting the wiring harness. Once the ignition switch is removed, you can replace the lock cylinder, which is where the key fits. After installing the new cylinder, reassemble the ignition switch and reconnect the wiring to ensure everything functions correctly.
Im installing a 1983 2.3 red block into a 1979 242. I need a ignition wiring road map Modified schematic. Bkindschy@yahoo.com
When you change the ignition switch, you often do not need a new key, as the existing key can still work with the new switch if it is compatible. However, if the ignition switch is part of a more comprehensive security system or if it is designed to work with a different key pattern, you may need a new key or to reprogram the existing key. It’s best to consult your vehicle's manual or a professional to confirm the specifics for your car model.

If you are talking about installing or removing the ignition lock cylinder I believe the key has to be in the run position.
Remove the ignition switch retaining ring. Pull the ignition switch out. Remove the wiring harness from the back of the ignition switch. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.
