Johann H. Schultze 1684 - 1744 German - Preformed experiments that paved the way towards chemical based Photography. It was known that certain chemicals darkened when exposed to sunlight. In 1727 Professor Schulzte heated silver nitrate. The compound did not darken so heat was eliminated as a cause of blackening. Schultze mixed silver nitrate with chalk and using the chalk like a pencil applied this compound to paper using a stencil. When exposed to sunlight the coated paper darkened.

In invention of photography is credited to Nicephore Niece 1765 - 1833 France - who made the first permanent picture, a view from his window using a camera of his design. This first picture was taken in 1827. The picture is currently at Gernsheim Collection, University of Texas at Austin.

What did ansel Adams invent?

Ansel Adams is best known for his contributions to photography, particularly in promoting the use of the zone system, a technique he co-developed with Fred Archer. The zone system allows photographers to control exposure and development, ensuring that they can achieve precise tonal representation in their images. While he didn't invent a physical device, his innovations in photographic techniques and artistic vision significantly influenced landscape photography and the conservation movement.

Why is it that photography can be called either an invention or a discovery?

Because they discovered that certain chemicals mixed with each other placed on certain media can create a copy of what's in front of that certain media, but they had to invent a whole series of machinery to perfect this chemical reaction to the point where it is actually called photography, and the product, a photograph. Hope this helped.

Why did joesph niepce invent photography?

He couldn't draw. Seriously. When Niepce was alive, a popular artist's tool was the "camera obscura." If you know what a pinhole camera is, you're one step ahead of the game here. Instead of using film, the camera obscura had a sheet of really thin paper in it. An image appeared on the paper; to make it permanent you traced it with a pencil. Niepce didn't have a steady-enough hand to make good tracings, so he invented a way to make the camera do the work for him.
