Yes, because your body, if you're a Christian that is, is the body of the Holy Spirit, and as a temple, you are supposed to keep it clean and looking good. The Bible refers to things like tattoos in the Old Testament, though the word tattoo is not used, as that is our new word for it, but if you look hard enough in the first few books, though I think it might be in Leviticus. No. But can affect your health. In some cultures they are frowned upon however, in some they are reverened. Do what you wanna do. The scripture to which you are referring to in Leviticus, was God speaking specifically to the Isrealites that He brought out of Egypt. He commanded that they not practice Pagan traditions of mourning which were to shave the front of their head, cut themselves and mark themselves FOR THE DEAD. His purpose was to tell them that He brought them safely out from death and into life. They were set aside for a different purpose and were not to practice traditions for the dead. Doing theological studies on the Bible will help you understand it, apply it and know specifically who it applies to and HOW it applies to your life in particular. Not everything applies to everyone that is written in the word. "Study and show thyself approved." Don't just read the words, understand it...you can't preach what you don't understand! Right above the quote in Leviticus it also says no to eat meat drained of its blood, or cut your hair. So you better stop goign to cost cutters and start eating kosher meats if you are interpreting the Bible that way. Some people argue that your "Body is a temple", well I think my tattoo covered bodyt that goes to the gym 3 times a week and runs miles a day is a temple regardless of ink or not. There is nothing against tattoos in the Bible.

Since Satan is a clear reference to spirituality and religion, if you look to religious documentation for the answer-

Leviticus 19:28 is the Christian (or so-called Christian?) tattooist and tattoo-bearer's worst nightmare. The Lord plainly, clearly, strongly, and without a doubt - condemns the tattoo.

"Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD."

Could that be any more clear?

YES,Tattoos are considered Marks of Satan!

Leviticus 19:28 in King James Bible

* Because this sin is forbidden by GOD, it is wrong and definitely satanic as blood letting is a satanic ritual and everyone bleeds from a tattoo! * No, tattoos are not Statanic. Just because something is forbidden by religious law does NOT make it Satanic, or all the people who eat bacon would be going to Hell. And I would like to see the Biblical passage that calls bloodletting Satanic. I personally feel that you're confusing Satanism with pagan, pre-Christian beliefs. * tattoos can be used as satanic markings for example the pentagram, 666 and names pointing to satanic worship etc.

Well, it depends. In the Bible, it doesn't say SPECIFICALLY not to have a tattoo. But...that's a hard question.

There is no specific Biblical prohibition against tattoos. You should consult your pastor. Your sect of Christianity may counsel against tattoos for some reason.

There is a specific biblical prohibition, and it is,Leviticus 19:28 (NASB95)

"You shall not make any cuts in your body for the dead, nor make any tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.......

Tattoos are forbidden in Judaism (Leviticus ch.19).

Answer:

Opinions on this will vary. I don't personally think it is a sin, but piercings seem inconvenient, and I see no reason to put up with them. As to tattoos (the same applies to piercings), be sure to get them from a reputable place; remember that there is always a risk of getting dangerous diseases such as AIDS, so disposable needles must always be used. I am not sure whether sterilization is enough; you may want to search the internet about that topic.

I think it says something about to not (purposely) permanently mark your body.

No, I know of no religion that prescribes it as doctrine.
