Use words that describe the type of the tree it is (apple, oak, etc.), its color, how high it is, does the wood have a scent (ie Ponderosa pines smell like vanilla), how the leaves are placed on branches and so on. Appeal to the visual and other senses.

green

brown

hard

wet

tall

short

colorful

big

huge

tiny

dead

fallen

climbing

Also, it depends on if the tree is the typical tree, in which adjectives could be:

leafy

grand

massive

broad

strong

tall

immense

shady (as in providing shade, not a shady buisnessman...be careful how you

use that one)

If the tree is not the typical tree however, and it is more like trees that have lost their leaves, then possibly:

eerie

willowy

bare

howling (describing the sound maybe made from the wind)

menacing (or any other word that could mean scary: frightening, chilly, creepy,

spooky)
