I am not sure that you can.... Please tell us more about the painting. (sorry) What IS a silk painting? Is it a painting ON silk? Do you know what type of paint was used to create it? Is the surface pourus? What type of paint splashed on it? How long ago? How much (area in square inches??)
The type of paint used for matte painting lies in the meaning of the word "matte". It is a type of paint that leaves a surface which does not reflect light to a great degree. In other words, it is not very shiny and is often more pleasant to look at for extended periods of times. Matte paint is very often used indoors, in homes and at offices.
Watercolor paint, similar to the type you may have used in kindergarten.
Henry Moore was not known for painting, as he was a very famous sculptor.
I'm pretty sure that the painting was painted with oil paints. I did an assignment on this and one of the questions asked what medium was used and that is what i wrote :)
Masking tape. Each color is a different tack rate or "stickiness", used on different surfaces. You should decide by determining how smooth or rough the surface is that you are painting.
Masking
Masking tape, as used by artists, is best. It sticks well, but comes off easily afterwards.
A paper type tape used mostly for painting purposes. It's used to mask areas you don't want to get paint on. Maksing tape is difficult to remove and leaves a sticky residue. Seldom used anymore. Blue painter's Tape is the preferred product. Gives sharp edges, easy to remove and no residue.
Spray painting
Masking tape is readily available at hardware stores or big box stores such as Home Depot. Walmart also sells masking tape. Masking tape is used during the painting process and also used in some hobbies.
The trademark name Sellotape is often used generically for cellophane tape (cello tape) in the UK, as the similar brand name Scotch tape (3M) is used in the US.
This tape is used and designed for contour marking on rigid surfaces. It is often used on vehicles, clothing and other hard surface materials. The tape helps to make markings more visible in low light
Tape Dubbing is another term for tape copying. It's often used in the context of "High-speed dubbing" on cassette recorders, meaning the tape can be copied at high speed.
Strapping tape is a popular type of tape that athletes use. It is used for athletes to tape their wrists in order to prevent injury. The tape limits the movement of the joint and protects it from injury.
Tape that has a reflective surface on it to catch light. Often used by bycicle riders at night so that drivers can see them when the headlights reflect off the tape.
