They seem to have been allies on several occasions for example both Apollo and Poseidon (a few other gods and goddesses) tried to over through Zeus and got punished together... but I wouldn't say that they where friends. Especially as they both wanted to marry Hestia (she was one of the three virgin goddesses) but she rejected both of them. So yeah... they where more allies then friends.
I hope this helped you.

No. Python was killed by Apollo for pursuing the pregnant Leto, or by Apollo for the Oracle of Delphi - half of it was his by a birthday gift of Phoebe, and half was under the Python's keeping for Poseidon. Apollo gave Calauriato Poseidon for his half of Delphi.
No, Poseidon is not dating Hestia; Hestia is a virgin goddess and Poseidon is married to Amphitrite. Poseidon and Apollo did want to marry Hestia, until she vowed on the head of Zeus to remain a virgin.
Poseidon is a male and therefore a god. Other examples of greek gods are Zeus, Hades, and Apollo. Female "gods" are called goddesses.
