According classical mythology, Hermes was born to Maia on mount Cyllene in Arcadia as the son of Zeus, the king of all of the Greek gods. He is known for the wings on his sandals which helped him fly, as he was the messanger of the Olympian gods.

He was a god of travel protector of the wayfarers. He was as eloqent as a public speaker, as cunning as a thief.
