I am sure the x ray machines do demagnetize tapes. I bought hi8 tapes for my cam corder (2 sets) and all of them were demagnetized by the time I got from St. Louis to Tennerife. I was pissed I even asked security if they would be fine and they assured me they would. LIARS! lol I didn't get to make videos for my kids to see and of family there for other family to see I was angry. So my advice is to NOT take them. This year I am looking for a container that will keep them safe. Any ideas are appreciated.
Ill answer that with another question. You still use cassette tapes?

At a store.
You can get rid of old video, music tapes and harddrives by going to your local dumping place and giving it to the employees so they can take care of the video and music tapes or harddrives
A Video store, online lots of places. But mainly a video store!
BASF
you rip out the film and burn it yo
No, putting cassette tapes in the freezer will not revitalize them. This will damage the tapes. However, putting batteries into the freezer will revitalize the battery charge.
You can use a video camera that is compatible with mini dv tapes. Besides a video camera some audio recording devices might be able to record on mini dv tapes. But this will only be for audio, not video.
Video tapes must be stored away from magnets and other magnetic devices so as not to change the magnetic fields on the small portions of the tape. A magnet or magnetic devices placed near video tapes may be corrupted or data may be deleted.
There are only two tapes, standard and mini, which are only used in answering machines and the like.
