Designer sunglasses are a popular trend among the elite and are now trickling down to everyday folks. Celebrities often set the styles and trends of everything from clothing to accessories, including sunglasses. Some trends stick around for several years while others fade away in a matter of months. Consumers can expect to shell out a minimum of 100 hundred dollars for a pair of designer sunglasses. Brands like Fendi and Oakley can be purchases around this price. Other designer names like Prada, Versace and Ed Hardy will be upwards of 200 hundred dollars.

A savvy consumer who wants to purchase a pair of hip sunglasses should do their homework first. There is a ton of knock offs or fakes out there. If a shopper finds a pair of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses for 50 bucks brand new, they are most likely not authentic. Street vendors are probably not the best choice for authentic designer sunglasses, but they can provide some similar styles that will make it tough for other to tell the difference.

Fortunately, sunglass styles stay in fashion a bit longer than clothing. A shopper can expect their investment to keep them in high style at least one year, possibly two or more. Typically, eccentric styles are short lived and are not a good bet for a consumer who wants to spend their money on a fashion accessory that will be chic for a long time. Designer sunglasses are usually made better than an average pair of glasses found in a department store. Many brands offer excellent protection for the eyes against the sun’s harmful rays. This alone is a great excuse to splurge on a pair of high-end sunglasses.

Most designer sunglasses can be purchased online through various retailers. Major retailers will often have a larger variety to offer online than they do in their stores. Online sites may also offer last year’s designs on clearance as well. Many people sell used sunglasses for a fraction of the original purchase price. It is imperative a potential buyer looks at any pictures of the sunglasses very closely. Many used purchases are not eligible or returns or refunds.
