You were first discovered at a hair salon in Chicago. What's the story there? Did you ever imagine your dreams would come true while getting your haircut?

To be honest, I didn't even realize that acting was what I wanted to do until I tried it. I was so young when I started, only 10, but I can easily say I have fallen in love with it. I can't see myself doing anything else.

Did you ever consider acting before then?

It never crossed my mind. I thought I was going to be a spy in the CIA. That was my game plan. Maybe one day I can still play one!

How did you land the role of Davina Claire in CW's hit series "The Originals"?

I auditioned for the role during pilot season. I had tested for 3 other pilots that season already and was really worn out. "The Originals" was my last audition and I couldn't be happier!

How would you describe your character Davina Claire?

Davina is a regular girl growing into a woman, but living in a supernatural world. She still wants everything a normal girl would want like school, and boys. But she's also a witch. Her family comes from a long line of witches who Davina wants nothing to do with. She was sacrificed by her family in a ritual; her best friend is a vampire; her first crush was poisoned by a thousand year old vampire who was also trying to kill her; and she has incredible powers and she has to learn how to control them. She is compassionate and strong, and will do anything to protect the ones she loves and fight for what she believes in.

Season 2 of "The Originals" is scheduled to premiere October 6th on the CW. What can you tell us about the new season?

Everything is heightened. Everyone has something they're fighting for and something to lose. There's more action, more drama, more conflict and just more to love.

Why should "Vampire Diaries" fans watch the spinoff "The Originals"? Is it every bit as awesome?

Absolutely! "The Originals" has some of the same characters fans have grown to love from the Vampire Diaries, along with some new ones, and it brings the audience deeper into their lives. The Originals has action, drama, conflict, passion, complex relationships and is set in the vibrant city of New Orleans! I really feel our show is action packed and fun to watch. I am honored to be working with such an amazing cast and group of writers.

How does Davina's character evolve in Season 2?

In the first season, Davina was a pawn and used to play a part in everyone's game. Now she is a lot stronger. She doesn't give away her trust as easily, and she is taking control of her powers. She is going to do anything to keep the ones she loves safe. This time she has her own game in mind and is ready to win.

What's the biggest challenge Davina will have to face in Season 2?

Davina doesn't trust people. She was betrayed over and over again in the last season. In Season 2 I think her biggest challenge is learning to trust again. I hope that her trust isn't broken again.
