∙ 13y agoA telegram was intercepted indicating that Germany was pushing for an attack on the US by Mexico; another words Germany wanted Mexico as an ally during WWI. In return for such an alliance, Germany would ensure that the US returned all lands taken from Mexico during the Mexican War of 1846-48.
That land today is California, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and New Mexico. To help squash that temptation, the US withdrew it's forces from Mexico, and Poncho Villa was never captured by US forces.
