The dazzling wealth and glory with which Pompey returned to Rome in 62 BC clearly outclassed all of Rome's previous conquests. His armies had traveled to Asia, a frontier area of Rome, and created within it a wealthy prosperous part of the eastern empire. He had created Nicopolis near the area where he had finalized the defeat of the troublesome Mithridates in the East. Pompey took control of Syria and made it a Roman province. He had other eastern rulers become allies of Rome and made them tax paying loyalists to Rome and her interests. Only Parthia could not be controlled. That would a thorn for Rome for decades.
Pompey delivered to Rome's treasury vast amounts of gold and silver. He was a Roman "hero".
