It is due to the rotation of the earth as we move around the sun in it's gravational field we also spin and we complete one whole spin every 24hours the reason why it is light in the day time is becasue day time is when we are facing towards the sun and it is dark at night because we are facing away from the sun the earth has no other source of natural light apart fomr the sun! hope this helps
