The ecosystem is sensitive to environmental changes. These environmental changes whether chemical or physical directly affect the species richness and composition, the biodiversity of the area.
Well only certain creatures can live in certain areas like fish... they don't have legs so they cannot live on land. That is why there are different ecosystems. even though they can adapt it would take a very long time for it to do so which then could result in the extinction of that species.
If you accept the concept of natural selection (and you may not), then different types of plant and animal evolve to occupy different niches within an environment. Different conditions such as temperature, humidity etc will favour one form of animal / plant over another. So differences in place create differences in bio-diversity.
There are two components of biodiversity; species richness and species composition. The health of an ecosystem is directly impacted by this richness and composition.

Biodiveristy includes genetic diversity. It also includes the diversity of species and of ecosystems. In other words, biodiversity is the diversity of life.

huh? Is that the full question? The impact of biodiversity on ecosystems?

Although throughout Earth's history the climate has always changed with ecosystems and species coming and going, rapid climate change affects ecosystems and species ability to adapt and so biodiversity loss increases. ... Loss of Arctic sea ice threatens biodiversity across an entire biome and beyond.
rainforests are called "biodiversity hotspots" because of the big amount of flora and fauna it has
