The ability to levitate is a Lolth bestowed power of the nobles of the houses. His other magical abilities (darkness, fairie fire) are due to his race (dark elf). When he abandons his family and city he loses the status of noble and stripped of the ability to levitate due to his disfavor with Lolth.

The drow way is to kill. Zaknafein and Drizzt are not the only ones that feel like that tho. Other drow have the same delima, (CANT SPELL, LOL) but are to scared to say so! Drizzt is very passionate about his feelings, and He and Zaknafein are happy together, so they go together, therefor, Zak and drizzt are the only ones who will stand up.
