According to quitarist and recording enthusiast Randy David of New Iberia, LA, he wrote the song and sold it. Randy didn't mention who the lyrics and music were sold to, nor do I know how Bobby Day came to record it. This conversation took place back in 1973, at the approximate time Randy was recording my band, and I found it credible due to the musical calibre of this man. Back in the 1950's Randy was the leader of "Randy & The Rockets" and was extremely talented on the Electric Guitar. His favorite artist, I remember, was Chet Atkins. I learned a lot about recording from Randy David. Sadly, he died many years ago, of bone cancer. I wish I'd asked for more details of the song Rockin Robin, but I didn't pursue the subject at the time.
