Diego Enrique Santiago, age 5, was pinned an honorary Chief Petty Officer at the USO in Jacksonville, North Carolina in March of 2006. He was a cancer patient and his wish was to be a Navy Chief just like his father, HMC Jesus Santiago. Diego passed away 8/2/06.

It is hard to really say who the youngest Chief Petty Officer of World War 2 was since at the time men lied about their ages. Men as young as 15 and 16 years old claimed to be older so they could enlist.
