This should be very simple. You have a belt tensioner that keeps the belt tight. You should be able to use a 1/2 drive breaker bar to hold the idler up from the belt & remove the belt. Unless the springs are broken in it. This happens on lots of fords. The tensioner sometimes will get the belt so tight it will break the face off the alternator. I doubt you have this problem. Maybe you are pushing the wrong way on your breaker bar. Hope this helps If this is your problem you will have to have a new one
