The Afghan war was the longest in American history with constant conflict.

The Third Punic War is-technically-the longest war in human history, lasting 2134 years.

The question was not about American history, but human history.

It is nonsense to talk of the Carthaginians being 'technically' still at war today, when they were sold off into slavery at the end of the Third Punic War in 146 BCE and ceased to exist as a city, country or people.

We do have The Hundred Years War 1337 to 1453 CE between England and France. In earlier times we had the Persian Wars 499-449 BCE.
