Driving under normal conditions use "Drive" with circle (highest gear) best fuel economy
You can try "D" but vehicle should downshift automatically to required gear
The " D " is the drive position so the transmission ( transaxle ) only uses the first ( 3 ) gears and not the overdrive gear ( the 4th gear ) that you normally get if you select the " D " with the circle around it
I have a 84 camaro 2.8, what is over drive? The D without circle are D with circle?
Overdrive
The D WITHOUT the circle around it is your 3rd gear, the D WITH the circle around it is your OVERDRIVE gear. The overdrive allows you to get better gas mileage and causes less wear on the engine. But there are times when you should NOT use overdrive, like if you are pulling a trailer up a steady hill, or some snow and icey conditions. If you want to notice the difference, put the car in D WITHOUT the cirlce around it, start out and drive at 50......then as you are going along change it to the D WITH the circle around it and you will feel and hear the difference. The engine revs will come down. It's also the same if you are in Overdrive and you press the throttle completely to the floor, your car will go into a lower gear , the D without the circle, to give you added power and then when you let off the throttle, then transmission will once again shift into Overdrive and the revs will come down and this happens without you changing the gear selector at all. D = Drive: standard drive for transmition engaged, allows for faster transition for a kick-down/passing gear... (D)= Over-Drive is for freeway travel lets the transmition stay in a higher gear for fuel economy (less RPM) the D with out the circle is normal drive wich cause more engine torque. the D with the circle is drive with overdrive wich gives less torque because it allows the transmission to shift to another higher gear.
Put simply... it's a circle of links that connects the drive gear (attached to the pedals) to the speed gear(s) - attached to the rear wheel. Rotating the drive gear (using the pedals) transfers the movement to the gear cogs on the rear wheel - which propels the bicycle forwards.
Yes, the pitch circle is an imaginary circle on the gear that passes through the gear teeth and the addendums.
In a vehicle, a driving gear is the gear which is driven by the engine. The driving gear helps control the speed the vehicle is in.
it is to select "overdrive" gear in transmission. mainly for highway driving. if you have both "D" and "D" with circle around it, use "D" for most driving needs.
The drive gear will turn faster. If the driving gear was twice the size of the drive gear, the drive gear would rotate twice for every revolution of the said driving gear.
Gear drive
the D beside the N is the common one to use, it may have a circle around it, denoting overdrive. this will give you the best fuel economy during everyday driving
