Firstly, it appears that it is a region or civilization rather than a city (although often a particular city name is used to designate a region).
Secondly, its exact location remains unknown.
Thirdly, the few Bible passages which mention it (Isaiah 66:19; Jeremiah 46:9; Ezekiel 27:10; 30:5 38:5 and Nehemiah 3:9), although some of these references have 'Pul'.
Some have considered it certainly to be in Africa and possibly in the area now occupied by Libya. Certainly in Bible references it is connected with Egypt and other known nearby nations in terms of judgment. In this connection, since the Ethiopians are also mentioned it is possible that Put occupied a position south of Egypt.
