Cilia are hairs that grow out of the surface of a cell.

Example are eyebrows(to help keep foreign bodies out of your eyes), nostil hair (to filter the air before it reaches the lungs) and the tail like cells that are in your throat and breathing passages (they wave in unison to move mucus and dust particles out of your Lungs.
