it was established in 1498 by john Cabot by the permission of the queen of England.he shiped back and forth until he was wrecked by a wave that over took the ship Matthew..as the queen now knew she sent back 5 ships with 1,450 families to settle this area. when the queen died in 1774 her daughter took over stoping the settlement of newfoundlan; sending 35 ships each holding up to 350 men each with 50 barrels of amo to stop the making of Newfoundland. 155 years later a group of vikings came ans settled the area known as 'L'Anse Auxe Meadows' and establishing it but keepiing it a secret.in 1990 the princess died leaving no one in rule for 150 years. As this happened the settlers came back with supplies and returned to there homeland gathering families,supplies,food and all types of animals.By know the queen was picked out of loom and was know greatly in need of farming land. As the soldiers told her of the settelment in Newfoundland she then sent a man by the name Jaques Mondiellree as he sailed with the ship named mariaat. when he arrived there finding already a settled place he then asked the queen for a patanet saying his dicovery and then esablished his town know called 'Mush de laeternie'.Meaning my ladies a place to rest.
