About 1300-1200 BC, There is some indication of rare occurrences of iron before that, but it was so scarce as to be considered a precious metal. That time period marked the end of the Bronze Age, and the start of the Iron Age.

The earliest cast iron artifacts, found in China, date back to 513 BC. The Chinese of this time had developed furnaces hot enough to melt iron. Using this process, they were able to pour molten iron into a cast or mold to make many products, including cast iron cookware.

In 1708 Abraham Darby invented a process for making cast iron in large industrial quantities, suitable for making big structures such as bridges, heavy machinery, etc. His invention helped to start the Industrial Revolution in Europe.

Where was carbon steel first used?

According to my calculations, Carbon Steel was used thousands of years ago, because, if carbon steel swords were invented thousands of years ago then- heres a question: if carbon steel swords was invented back then, then what made carbon steel swords? the same thing we use to make carbon steel, which is mainly carbon and iron. The carbon, when mixed with molten iron, in fixed proportions, steel of varying strengths are formed. Steel is strong since the carbon atoms enter the metallic lattice of iron the difference in size of the carbon and iron atoms restrict movement of the layers (atoms) hence when a force is applied, the steel resists. by 11SHIFT

Why temperature drop is high in low carbon steel than high carbon steel?

Because high carbon steel has low fluidity & low carbon steel has high fluidity.

What is the difference between ms and cs steel?

MS stands for mild steel. This is steel than only has a small about of carbon. It's strong, but not easily tempered. CS stands for carbon steel. In carbon steel, the main alloying element is carbon.

Is carbon steel the same as mild steel?

both of these are same In some places they are used interchangeabl low carbon steel has 0.05-0.15% carbon mild carbon steel has0.16-0.29% carbon http://www.metalsupplies.com/
