Im pretty sure they broke up because, they were going through un-released troubles, and were about to break up the band over it, but just decided to stay friends for the band.

She said it was because it was the best thing they could do for their friendship and band. And she loved Josh, he was her best friend. And she also says that she almost forgot that they dated at the wedding and she guesses it wasn't ment to happen. She explained it on the interview of Paramore Takeover on Fuse.
