snowblower model 944528394 sears craftsman speed shifter fell off, and needs to be reattached
It depends on the snow and humidity and your barometer setting when you start the engine. I have found that forks will generally drive the snow away better but it may take a little longer than the Deere. Orange ones also will throw the snow in a direction you choose which is good to experience.
Have a Sears snowblower that's about three years old used it hard in the snow storms we have had in 2010 and it work fine only thing is the gas tank is to small, needs to be refuled often. We had 40 inches of snow in two storms. it is a 5.5 Hp. and 24 inch wide model. Cal120 In Canada, the higher priced Craftsman snow blowers are built by Husqvarna and are very reliable. They are Husqvarna in red.
The serial # will usually give you the year.

Did you ever find or receive an answer on getting a manual- I can probably scan the manual if you still need it
What engine is on this snow thrower I know it is a Briggs&Stratton engine but I need to know the model number.
You can get the same diagrams and parts list that are in the original owners manual on the sears, partsdirect web site by typing in the model number. However many of the parts are listed as no longer available.
You could call jacobson customer service and they can tell you where to look for the model number.
Look at the snow thrower as if you were walking behind it. About an inch or two above and to the left of where the drive speed control arm goes into the engine, there is a 3 inch pipe that comes out of the engine. On the end of that pipe is the drain plug. Make sure to tip the entire snow thrower back a bit at the end of emptying to get all the oil out.
