Are robots going to rule the world?

Well, i remember watching aDiscovery Channel episode about how the world would end, and they featured robots.they said that since the army are creating robots with minds of their own to fight, the robots could very easily turn on us and kill us. Another thing Discovery Channel said was that doctors are making extremely small robots to go into someone's body to help get rid of bacteria cells. If even the tiniest thing went wrong, the robot could destroy something vital and kill us. They are also creating robots to perform surgery. If they malfunctioned the robot could easily kill us.So, I think it could easily wipe out the human race if it gets out of hand.

What basic problems and needs do robots serve?

Robots are there to serve problems that we cannot do ourselves, or would prefer not to do on a regular basis. They are used as surrogates for jobs that we don't want to do. For instance, several robots that form a car construction line are much better than having several people doing the same job. For a start, they don't require wages, and they perform exactly the same job with exactly the same accuracy every time, no mistakes. In the case of robotics with computers, they are used to perform tasks that we could not do efficiently, or even safely. For example, hundreds of lives could have been saved in the Chernobyl disaster if they'd had access to robots to move the radioactive debris, as compared to humans. The people assigned to that job were nicknamed 'Biorobots', for the simple reason that it made it sound much less horrific!

What is self healing robots?
