It totally depends on the adhesive but there's a few options you can try for a very small price.

Acetone is a standard solvent you'd find in a lab and you'd be amazed how many things it can dissolve. It's what makes nail polish remover work, so buy some and give it a try.

Also some mineral spirits (paint remover!) is a fine choice and will cost you very little...chances are, you'll already have some lying around.
