Dr. Preston Burke makes a very short return at the end of Season 10. He is the reason Cristina leaves Seattle (Grey Sloan) because he offers her his job to go to a better heart facility in Switzerland where she can continue her research of printing a fully functional heart.
He originally left the show after Cristina left him on the altar, but in real life he was kicked off because he made deragatory remarks about George O'Malley's actor T.R. Knight being gay.
