They drank GREEN tea
The Boston Tea Party was the beginning of The Intolerable Acts. It started with The Boston Port Act, which effectively closed Boston to trade. It was written that the port would remain closed until the tea was paid for. It was a blanket punishment, meaning it was directed at the entire city instead of just those that did the "crime." It was an attempt to make an example out of Boston. Instead, it just created further feelings of revolution. The Boston Port Act was followed by The Massachusetts Government Act, The Administration of Justice Act, and The Quartering Act. These did things such as forcing private homes to house British soldiers, and other methods of taking back control. These acts are usually regarded as the final sparks that triggered the American Revolution.
