Nothing points to his working with officials to kill Lincoln. His diary reflects he thought he would be a hero to the southern states and restart the war, but he was surprised when he didn't get help and was alone in trying to hide from Union troops. The south responded with grief about the president's death and thousands lined the rail lines and roads to view his body going back to Illinois. I have been to the museum and unless the exhibits have changed recently nothing there proves that Booth worked with Confederate officials.
