The 1979 Susan B. Anthony Dollar coin was never issued in gold. Its composition is a core of pure copper with outer layers of copper/nickel (75% copper and 25% nickel). If you have one which appears to be gold then it has been gold plated or colored by some means to give the appearance of gold.

The cladding isn't silver. It's copper-nickel, like many other current coins.

What you have is probably a lamination error. If so, it might retail for $30 or so, as of 08/2011.

A lamination error happens when part of the cladding comes off a coin or was never there in the first place. Clad coin stock is made in huge rolls that are fed through a machine that punches out individual coin blanks like cookies. Sometimes the cladding isn't uniform near the end of a roll, and some of the blanks are punched out missing one or both sides.
